James R. De Furio practices in the area of Community Association law. He represents condominium associations, homeowner associations, recreational facilities, and other non - profit corporations that administer commonly owned property. He has had an emphasis in this area of the law in the State of Florida since 1991.

After graduating from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana, he became licensed to practice law in the State of Florida in 1985.

He began the practice of law in Sarasota, Florida, with the law firm of Steves, Busch, and Cole. In 1991 Mr. De Furio joined the law firm of Becker and Poliakoff, P.A. in its Sarasota, Florida office. In 1994 he transferred to Becker and Poliakoff's Tampa Bay offices. He has practiced law in the Tampa Bay area ever since.

In February, 2002 Mr. De Furio left the firm of Becker and Poliakoff to establish the law firm of James R. De Furio P.A. In 2003 James R. De Furio P.A. became a partner in the firm of Cianfrone, Polster, and De Furio, a partnership of Florida professional associations.

Mr. De Furio is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the United States District Court for the Eleventh Circuit. He has successfully argued cases before Florida appellate courts, including the Florida Supreme Court, and Federal appellate courts. He makes his home in Tampa with his wife and five children. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association and its Condominium and Planned Development Committee; the Community Associations Institute and its Suncoast Chapter; and the Council of Neighborhood Associations.

He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on condominium and homeowner association law.
